Meet JEA's New CEO, Paul McElroy


Paul McElroy was appointed Chief Executive Officer effective October 1, 2012.  He has served as JEA’s Chief Financial Officer since January 1, 2006.  Prior to that, he served as JEA’s Vice President Financial Services.  

Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, a certificate from the Advanced Management Program of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and pursued graduate level studies at the University of Bridgeport and the University of New Haven in Connecticut.   

Before joining JEA in 2002, Paul served as a Vice President and General Manager for Bombardier Capital Corporation in Jacksonville, Florida and Colchester, Vermont.  Prior to that, he served in a variety of management positions with Pitney Bowes Credit Corporation, including Controller, Director Marketing and Vice President, Internal Finance Division in Norwalk, Connecticut.   

Paul serves on The Energy Authority, Inc. (TEA) Board of Directors and has served as chair TEA’s Finance and Audit Committee. 

Paul moved to Jacksonville as part of a corporate relocation in 1998.  Once his assignment was done, his family had the opportunity to move again and made the decision to stay in Jacksonville as their junior high school aged daughters, Caitlin and Morgan, were doing well.  They had good friends, went to a good school and church, lived in a  great community so they decided to put down roots in Jacksonville.

Caitlin is currently enrolled in the Teach for America program teaching second graders in the south Bronx.  Morgan is in her last semester of nursing school.  Paul and his wife, Linda, have been married 25 years.  He enjoys golf, the beach and exercising.

Welcome New Member Bill Langley

Bill Langley serves as the Chief Operating Officer of MedScribe Information Systems, Inc., a national medical transcription service company.  He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and is a native of Jacksonville, FL.

Bill and his wife, Tracy, have two daughters, Melissa (21) and Caroline (18).  Melissa is a junior at Florida State University and Caroline is a freshman at the University of Alabama.

Bill is a member of Southside United Methodist Church and currently serves as chairperson for the church preschool.  In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, shooting pool and spending time with family and friends.

Upcoming Event

The Rotary Club of South Jacksonville is presenting a night at the Alhambra featuring the play “Driving Miss Daisy”.  Proceeds will benefit the Episcopal Children’s Services “Generations Start” Project.   March  6, 2013 at The Alhambra Dinner theater, 12000 Beach Boulevard.

Our club has committed to buying the entire show for the evening and we will have exclusive use of the venue.  Reception will begin at 6:00 PM with the bar being on the main floor.   Dinner service will be 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  Show begins at 8:00 PM.

Each club member is responsible for the sale of 4 tickets at $75.00 each for a total of $300.00.  Your account will be billed automatically February 6.  *Sale or purchase of a sponsorship at any of the levels below satisfies your ticket responsibility.

Meet Angela B. Corey
State Attorney, Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida

Angela Corey is a native of Jacksonville and a second generation Floridian.  Corey 
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Florida State University in
1976, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, College of Law in 1979. 
 
Corey is a 30 year veteran prosecutor and began her career in 1981 under State 
Attorney Ed Austin.  During her 25 year tenure in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, 
Corey tried hundreds of cases including more than 50 homicides.  In 2007, Corey 
joined the 7th Judicial Circuit for a two year stint as an Assistant State Attorney in 
the homicide investigative unit.  In November of 2008, she was elected to serve as
the State Attorney of the 4th Judicial Circuit of Florida. 

In addition to her distinguished career trial work, Corey has devoted an equal amount 
of time to training police and prosecutors on local, state and national levels. Since
1982, Corey has taught classes for the Police Academy at Florida State College
at Jacksonville. She has served as Training Director for the State Attorney’s Office as 
well as lectured extensively on a variety of topics for the Florida Prosecuting Attorney’s 
Association. In addition to commitment to training for prosecutors, Corey has also served 
as an Adjunct Professor at the Florida Coastal School of Law. Corey has further displayed 
her commitment to continuous learning by achieving Board Certification in Criminal Trial 
Law.
 
Corey is involved in many community and civic activities. She is an active member of 
the Republican Party of Duval County and the Republican Women’s Club of Duval 
Federated.  Corey has served on the Board of Directors of the Fellowship of Christian 
Athletes and the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for Florida State College at 
Jacksonville.   She served on the Transition Teams for both Governor Rick Scott and 
Attorney General Pam Bondi.  Corey currently serves on the Board of Trustees at 
Episcopal High School of Jacksonville.  Corey is very active in her church, St. Johns 
Episcopal Cathedral, having served on the Vestry from 1987 to 1989.  For the past
years, she has participated almost every Sunday in Children’s Chapel, where she loves 
to help teach the children from ages five to ten.
