Lunch is served at Noon, Meeting begins at 12:30p

 Please Welcome, Kristin Keen

Founder and President, Sari Bari & Rethreaded

Kristin lived and worked for five years in Kolkata, India where she encountered the life-stealing effects of the area's sex trade on a daily basis.  Kristin helped co-found a business that could offer these women a safe haven.  Today, Sari Bari is a thriving business that employs more than 120 people in Kolkota who create beautiful handmade blankets and other products from traditional fabrics.

Upon her return to Jacksonville, Kristin felt called to fight the sex trade on a local level, and Rethreaded was born.  Beginning by forming relationships with women on the street and making prison visits, she knew the biggest need was for a safe, supportive work environment where these women could earn money while learning a skill and experiencing continued healing through community.  Since Rethreaded's start in 2012, Rethreaded has helped 20 women locally and provided over 10,000 hours of work to women in Jacksonville.  In 2012 Rethreaded was the overall winner of One Spark.  In 2015 Kristin was awarded the "40 under 40" up and coming business leaders in Jacksonville and was chosen as one of Girls Inc. "Women of Vision" awards.  When she’s not at Rethreaded, Kristin is usually biking, doing yoga, or eating at some of Jacksonville's best local restaurants.

November 17, 2015

Lunch is served at Noon, Meeting begins at 12:30p

 Please Welcome, Chief Tara Wildes

Director, Department of Corrections - Jacksonville
Chief Tara Wildes, Head of the Department of Corrections for the City of Jacksonville, has over 20 years of experience in corrections and law enforcement.   Tara graduated for the University of North Florida with a BA in Criminal Justice and History.

Tara's long history and experiences in law enforcement has led her to publish, "Jails, Prisons and You Community's Health Journal" and co-author a "Tomorrow's Worth Waiting For" seminar with Lynn Brueske, LMHC.  A workshop seminar designed to teach law enforcement officers and school officials how to react in mental health crisis situations.

Wildes and Brueske volunteered to research, write and present the workshop, which helps officials recognize suicidal tendencies and intervene.  Thus far, Brueske and Wildes have trained more than 600 law enforcement and corrections personnel and more than 300 educators in Duval, Nassau, Clay and St. Johns counties, and plan to work with Baker County.  One of the motivating factors Wildes contributes is stated, "I feel like it's our responsibility to have compassion for individuals regardless of what they've done.  We're responsible for their care, custody and control.  A lot of people only focus on the custody and control part."  Brueske and Wildes don't have any statistical data on the program's effectiveness, but response has been positive.

    November 10, 2015

Lunch is served at Noon, Meeting begins at 12:30p

Please Welcome Sarah Cramer and Eric Heineman

    Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
My father, Paul Enno Cramer, died on March 3rd, 2001 in a training accident. I was 10 years old. He had left from Virginia to go to Florida for a two week training course with the Air National Guard. While flying back to Virginia, the plane, carrying 21 men, ended up tragically crashing to the ground in Unadilla, Georgia. There were no survivors.

I will never forget the night that two men dressed in uniform showed up at my house to tell my family and I about the death of my father. Not a day goes by that I do not think about my dad, but it is through the healing hand of God and the strength and encouragement of my family and friends that I have been able to move forward from this life-shattering day.

Eventually, I began to attend college at Liberty University, but was overwhelmed with the price of school. I still remember the day I found out about Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. It is because of Fallen Patriots that I was able to graduate from college debt free. I am forever grateful to Children of Fallen Patriots for the indescribable support they have been to me, and am proud to honor my father by giving back and serving alongside this incredible foundation.
