Welcome Bill Warner, Concours d'Elegance

Bill Warner is founder of The Amelia, chairman of the Amelia Foundation, and also serves as president of his own business, H. C. Warner, Inc., an industrial filtration company. He also owns and operates Bill Warner Racing.
He won the 2002 Meguiar's Award for Collector Car Hobby Person of the Year. Known as the 'Oscar' of car collecting, this award recognizes those who make a significant contribution to the quality, visibility and growth of classic car collecting.

In 2001, Warner was voted into the Road Racing Drivers' Club, one of road racing's highest honors. Brian Redman, world famous endurance racer and club president, says Warner deserves the recognition for creating, sustaining and propelling the Amelia into such an innovative annual event.

Warner began as a "go-fer" for a racing team as a teenager and eventually began racing his own cars. He won the IMSA Media Challenge in 1985, 1986 and 1987, driving a Chevrolet Camaro in the Firestone Firehawk series with Tom Nehl and Buddy Norton. He also co-drove with Norton, Sean Hendricks and Larry Hendricks to win the SCCA 24 hours of Mid Ohio Escort Endurance race. It was the first professional win in history for an automatic transmission production car. He also is a veteran of two Cannonballs.

For the past two decades, he has raced the ex-Group 44/Paul Newman Triumph TR-6 in vintage events and has won both the 1997 Skip Barber Cup and the 1999 John Kelley Memorial Cup. As a writer and photographer for Road & Track, as well as several European and Asian racing publications, he has won the Sports Car Club of America's 1970 Photographer of the Year Award, Creative Arts Yearbook Award, and a Los Angeles Art Directors Award for race photography. His award winning restorations include the Ex-Denny Hulme Brabham BT-8, a Shelby King Cobra, a Lotus 11, an Elva Mk5, and a 1954 Corvette. A restoration of his, a 1953 Oldsmobile Fiesta, was invited to the prestigious Meadow Brook Concours and was purchased by General Motors for their Heritage Collection.

The Foundation established by Warner has donated over $2 million to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Spina Bifida of Jacksonville, Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, Shop with Cops and other charities since he founded The Amelia 17 years ago. For his efforts, he has been recognized as the 1997 Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year by the National Society of Fundraising Enterprises, one of the 1999 12 Who Care in the Jacksonville Community, and he is the recipient of the 2001 Frank W. Sherman Award presented by the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville for exemplary community service.

Jersey Mike’s “Month of Giving” Campaign 2015

March 25 - Jersey Mike’s Subs locations will promote Day of Giving

Since 2010, our devoted franchisees and team members throughout the country, supported by our generous customers, have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 1 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

One of our most successful fundraiser's is Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving.  Last year we raised nearly $2.1 million for 100 different charities nationwide.  Now in its 5th year, we are looking forward to making the program bigger than ever.

From coast to coast, more than 120 charity partners have been chosen, from hospitals to youth organizations, which are excited to join with us on this initiative.  The 31 days of “Month of Giving 2015” will peak with “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 25.   On that day, 100 percent of sales will be donated to our partner charities.

There’s a lot we can do locally to get the best possible fundraising results for those who will benefit, so below you will find helpful tools and ideas for getting the word out.

Program Summary

Jersey Mike’s Subs stores will offer fundraising support in several ways during the month of March:

·         Month-long fundraising campaign contributions.  Month of Giving is intended to raise money throughout March. Customers can select $1, $3 or $5 donation tear off sheets located near the cash register.

·         Day of Giving.  Nationwide, Jersey Mike’s Subs locations will promote Day of Giving (March 25), encouraging customers to contribute to a local charity, including your chosen charity, raising significant funds in one day.  Each restaurant will donate 100 percent of that day’s sales to the chosen charity.  Our Chosen Charity is End Polio Now

Donations from local Jersey Mike’s restaurants.  As always, our franchisees are known for their generosity and many organizations will also benefit from their direct contributions.

Is there an E-Club in your future? My hunch is probably not if you’re a regular old-school Rotarian like me. But, it takes all kinds to make this world go round. So for some out there, an E-Club might just be what the good doctor Paul Harris would have prescribed, if only the internet had been around back in his day.

E-Clubs may not be every Rotarian’s cup of tea, but they have their place in the Family of Rotary and they have been very beneficial to many Rotarians around the world. When Rotarians have to leave their clubs because they have moved to some far away place, an E-Club might be just the thing to keep them in Rotary. Do you have members who for whatever reason are unable to attend their regular club meetings? Well, for them an E-Club could be the answer. Do you know a person who would make a great Rotarian, but has no tolerance for structured weekly meetings? Well, how about pointing them to an E-Club!

District 6970 is on the verge of starting our first E-Club. For more information about it, contact PDG Russ Miller at or (813) 230-1334. He will provide you with the information you need to point prospective E-Club members to our soon to be launched online Rotary club.
