Our Governor's Message:

Week 6 Rotary Minute

On August 11th, the Africa continent marked one full year without a single case of polio.   Yet this progress, momentous as it is, is still fragile. As long as polio exists in the two remaining endemic countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan, the virus still has the potential to spread and to spark new outbreaks.
Now, more than ever, we must rededicate ourselves as Rotarians to finish the Polio fight.  I hope you have made plans to attend the August 15th Be a Gift to the World seminar to hear the personal story of Ramesh Ferris, a 35 year old Polio Survivor who is continuing the fight to eradicate this disease. The seminar will be held at the Thrasher-Horne Center in Orange Park starting at 8:00am.
Would you like to be a founding member of a Rotary Fellowship? Rotary Fellowships are independent groups of Rotarians and Rotaractors who share a common passion.  Past President Ed Book and Past District Governor Wes Eubank are looking for Rotarians interested in assisting with the formation of a proposed “Rotary on Pins” Fellowship, a fellowship that will engage new generations and Rotary youth programs via Rotary pins and memorabilia. Information about this new fellowship and other fun programs will be available during our seminar.

Ian H.S. Riseley, of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia, is the Nominating Committee’s selection for President of Rotary International in 2017-18. He will become the president-nominee on October 1st if no other candidates challenge him.
