Meet Jim Overton
Duval County Property Appraiser

Jim Overton is a fifth-generation Floridian and a native of Jacksonville's westside. He was elected Duval County Property Appraiser in 2003 and reelected in 2007 and 2011.

Public service is a family tradition for Overton. His grandfather served in the Florida Legislature, and several cousins have served on Florida county commissions or in the legislature. Overton was elected to the Jacksonville City Council in November 1992 and reelected in 1995 and 1999.

Appraisal:
Certified Florida Appraiser (CFA); Member, Florida Association of Property Appraisers; Member, International Association of Assessing Officers; Florida Real Estate Broker - Voluntarily Inactive; Admissions and Certification Committee, Florida Department of Revenue.

Education:
University of North Florida, Master of Public Administration; Washington & Lee University, Cum Laude B.S. in Commerce.

Prior Government Experience:
Jacksonville City Council President 1997-98, Vice-president 1996-97, Rules Chairman 1994-95, Finance Chairman 1996-97, Public Services Chairman 1995-96, Historical Buildings Task Force Chairman 2001-02.

Prior Business Experience:
28 years in private sector; CEO regional electronics engineering company.

   Upcoming Club Event
 
The Rotary Club of South Jacksonville is presenting a night at the Alhambra featuring the play “Driving Miss Daisy”.  Proceeds will benefit the Episcopal Children’s Services “Generations Start” Project.   March  6, 2013 at The Alhambra Dinner Theatre, 12000 Beach Boulevard.

Our club has committed to buying the entire show for the evening and we will have exclusive use of the venue.  Reception will begin at 5:30 PM with the bar being on the main floor.   Dinner service will be 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  Show begins at 8:00 PM.

Each club member is responsible for the sale of 4 tickets at $75.00 each for a total of $300.00.  Your account will be billed automatically March 6.  *Sale or purchase of a sponsorship at any of the levels below satisfies your ticket responsibility.
