Welcome Beth McCague
Beth currently serves as Interim Executive Director and Plan Administrator for the Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund.  

Beth holds a BSBA from the University of Florida and an MBA from Jacksonville University.    She is a career banker having served 32 years for Atlantic/FirstUnion/Wachovia in various executive capacities.  During her tenure as President of First Union Jacksonville in the 90’s she held leadership roles at the Jax Chamber.   She served for 8 years on the Investment Advisory Committee of the State Board of Administration.

Since her retirement from that organization she has worked as COO for a technology company, as a Florida State Supreme Court Certified Mediator and as Chairman of the North Florida Advisory Board of Seaside National Bank & Trust.  She serves as a Board member of UF Health and is currently the Chair of the University of Florida Foundation.
Previously she chaired the UF Florida Tomorrow 1.7B campaign.

Monday, May 23 -- Senator Aaron Bean – Florida Senate District 4

 
Aaron Bean was elected to the Florida Senate in 2012, re-elected without opposition in 2014, and is currently serving his second appointment as chair of the Health Policy Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, Commerce and Tourism, Fiscal Policy, Judiciary, Regulated Industries, and Joint Administrative Procedures Committee.

Before being elected to the Florida Senate, he served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives, including a term as chairman of the Duval County Legislative Delegation in 2008. During his tenure in the Florida House, Aaron received numerous awards and recognitions for his effective, conservative leadership. He was tapped by then-Speaker Marco Rubio to chair the House Health Care Committee, which oversaw all health care policy and the appropriations for approximately one-third of the state budget. Prior to being elected to the Florida House in 2000, Aaron served as a commissioner and mayor of his hometown of Fernandina Beach.

In 2014, Aaron was named “Senator of the Year” by The ABLE Trust for an unprecedented second year in a row for his dedication to Floridians with disabilities. He has also been named “Legislative Champion” by the Florida Sheriffs Association and a “Distinguished Advocate” by the Florida Chamber.

Aaron received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Jacksonville University and is currently the relationship development officer at UF Health Jacksonville. He also owns and operates the High Energy Auction Company. He and his wife Abby reside in Fernandina Beach with their three sons Bradley, Gray, and Walker. They attend Memorial United Methodist Church.

May 20, 2016: Tayla's "American Beach Picnic Birthday Party"
When: Friday, May 20, 2016 from 4:00 pm — 8:00 pm
Where: Hanna Park
What: Tayla's "American Beach Picnic Theme" Birthday Party Who: Members of S. Jacksonville and Arlington E. have been invited.
Directions: At Hanna Park, we are at Shelter #1. Go thru park gate, follow road to right. Go to 4 way stop, turn left.Go straight into parking lot. Shelter is 2nd on left. Gate can give folks a map that shows this real well. No alcohol, balloons, Glass bottles.

Staying with the picnic theme the main menu items will he slice ham, sliced turkey and fixings to make slider sandwiches.  The meats, plates, cups, napkins and utensils will be provided.  Rotarians will be asked to bring a side dish and or drink.  (A sign-up sheet at weekly meetings will be made available)


June 1, 2016 - Alhambra Dinner Theatre - Blithe Spirit!

Blithe Spirit - This Broadway and West End favorite comedy follows the tale of socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites an eccentric medium and clairvoyant, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira after the séance. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles’ marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost. Written by Noël Coward, this is a funny and endearing show! 


Week 45  Rotary Minute... Our District Governor's Message:  


May is Youth Service Month. Come out this Saturday after the District Assembly and assist our Interactors pack over 50,000 meals during their districtwide Stop Hunger Now event. The event will be held in the Flagler College Gymnasium.
