Budweiser Plant Beermaster Tour- A Fantastic Time!

The whole tour took our group over four floors of beer production which ended up on the floor where the cans of Bud Light were then filled, sealed, labeled, boxed and readied for immediate shipment that same day!

The Budweiser plant in North Jacksonville is huge with 850 acres of land. It is the second largest employer in Jacksonville.

It takes 30-days to brew Budweiser beer. Michelob Light takes 22 days to brew - a long process! To flavor the beer, Hops is a spice that gives beer it's unique taste. They come in little green pellets before being mixed in with other key ingredients to make Budweiser.

40 x 20,000 gallon tanks are used on three floors to ferment beer and in 5 days it turns the liquid into alcohol. Add yeast and cold temperatures and churning after 24 days and you get...Budweiser Beer!!

The large silver cylindrical tanks that ferment with beechwood can make 400,000 bottles of beer each, with 16 inches of Beechwood chips that hold the yeast at the bottom of tank. They have 350+ tanks kept at 48F which are run continuously.  That means the plant  makes more than 400 million beer bottles each cycle! Once the beer is made, the tanks are cleaned out and the next beer label, Michelob, or whatever other lagers they own are mixed in. All tanks rotate to make the different beer labels.
The plant churns out 500,000 barrels of beer and 90% of the beer made in Jax is sold here in FL. Their main plant is in St Louis, Missouri.

On each final pellet filled with cases of beer, 8,200 cans of Bud Light are readied for distribution. 700 labels are sealed on bottles with lasers every one minute.

5 million bottles are made a day in Jax and 8M cans a day. The plant down the road makes them then sends it over to Budweiser for the beer. Interesting right??

350+ tanks to ferment with beechwood and yeast. This was for Budweiser (not light). It was SO cold in there at 48F. I was on this floor When we turned the tap on one of these huge tanks - This was THE coldest and THE freshest beer Moat of us have ever tried!!!!!!!!!! It was SO refreshing. Straight from the tank after 30+ days of being brewed! Amazing taste!!

We all had to wear safety glasses and they gave us each a Budweiser hat to keep. We had earphones to listen to our tour guide as some areas was so loud.
Finally, we got to taste 4 kinds of beer each in their Bud Beer Bar next to their gift shop after the tour! 22 different kinds to choose from: blueberry beer, chocolate beer, Rastafarian beer labels, Shock Top beer, Black Crown, bud, bud light, Oculto, Stella Artois, MixxTrail Hurricane, Michelob, Mich light, and many others.

Great tour!!! Plus we all graduated with official "Beermaster" certificates.

Odette has not been seen since the sampling room!!

Jersey Mike’s “Month of Giving” Campaign 2015

March 25 - Jersey Mike’s Subs locations will promote Day of Giving

Since 2010, our devoted franchisees and team members throughout the country, supported by our generous customers, have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 1 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

One of our most successful fundraiser's is Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving.  Last year we raised nearly $2.1 million for 100 different charities nationwide.  Now in its 5th year, we are looking forward to making the program bigger than ever.

From coast to coast, more than 120 charity partners have been chosen, from hospitals to youth organizations, which are excited to join with us on this initiative.  The 31 days of “Month of Giving 2015” will peak with “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 25.   On that day, 100 percent of sales will be donated to our partner charities.

There’s a lot we can do locally to get the best possible fundraising results for those who will benefit, so below you will find helpful tools and ideas for getting the word out.

Program Summary:

Jersey Mike’s Subs stores will offer fundraising support in several ways during the month of March:

·      Month-long fundraising campaign contributions.  Month of Giving is intended to raise money throughout March. Customers can select $1, $3 or $5 donation tear off sheets located near the cash register.

·      Day of Giving.  Nationwide, Jersey Mike’s Subs locations will promote Day of Giving (March 25), encouraging customers to contribute to a local charity, including your chosen charity, raising significant funds in one day.  Each restaurant will donate 100 percent of that day’s sales to the chosen charity.  Our Chosen Charity is End Polio Now

Donations from local Jersey Mike’s restaurants.  As always, our franchisees are known for their generosity and many organizations will also benefit from their direct contributions.
