Welcome Ron Tittle
Public Information Officer
Florida Dept of Transportation

Since last May, Ron Tittle has served as the Public Information Officer for the Florida Department of Transportation.  At the DOT, Ron creates and maintains cooperative working relationships with representatives from the media, elected officials and the public.  He is the spokesperson for the department primarily in Duval, Clay and Nassau Counties where he plans, coordinates and hosts media and marketing events to help ensure maximum efforts to keep the public informed.  Ron is the conduit with the public to address transportation plans and progress.

Prior to joining the DOT, Ron directed the Florida Army and Air National Guard public affairs for nearly ten years.  There, he was responsible for command information, media relations, and community relations.  As Florida. National Guard and Florida. Department of Military Affairs Communications Director, Ron was the primary organization spokesperson.  He guided public affairs operations during crises such as mass federal deployments shortly after Sept. 11,2001 through 2011.  He also directed crisis communications for the Florida National Guard during unprecedented hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 throughout the state of Florida and the southeast region.

Ron has also served as the Commander of Security Police for the Florida Air National Guard's 125th Figher Wing. For more than 2 years, Ron commanded the security forces unit including law enforcement, security operations, investigations and plans, to ensure protection of priority/non-priority resources as well as base populace, interfacing with inter-agency intelligence, law enforcement and security professionals

In 1990, Ron began serving what would be nearly10 years, directing and supplying equipment maintenance, aircraft load plans, finance and budget, strategic and operations plans, security training, medical readiness, disaster preparedness and all support requirements for a rapid deployable heavy engineering unit with the Florida Air National Guard (US Air Force), 202nd RED HORSE Squadron. 

Following retirement from the U.S. Air Force and Florida Air National Guard, February 2011, Ron was hired with the State of Florida to be a public affairs adviser to assist in the transition of the Public Affairs Director. He has advised on matters pertaining to public affairs, strategic communications, tactical public affairs, plans and policy, emergency management and response, community relations, media relations, external affairs, journalism, leadership, internal and external communications; supervised federal, state and contractor public affairs team in addition to advising leadership.
