Meet Dr. Kevin Kaplan
Jaguar Head Team Physican

Dr. Kevin Kaplan is the Head Team Physician for the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars and has been a physician with the team for six years.  He also serves as the Team Physician for the Arena Football League Champion Jacksonville Sharks.  Dr. Kaplan is a Team Physician for Jacksonville University, the University of North Florida, and Atlantic Coast high school.  He volunteers as a physician for numerous athletic events hosted in Jacksonville throughout the year.

Dr. Kaplan graduated from Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in cell and molecular biology and was distinguished as Summa Cum Laude with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and a member of numerous National Honor Societies.  He attended New York University School of Medicine (New York, NY) where he graduated as a Doctor of Medicine and was distinguished in the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

Dr. Kaplan completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases (New York, NY) where he was chosen as an Executive Chief Resident, contributed over twenty orthopaedic publications, earned research awards, and received specialized training in orthopaedic trauma surgery at Seattle's Harborview Hospital, one of the busiest and most respected trauma centers in the country.  He completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic (Los Angeles, CA).  During his fellowship, he assisted the head team physician in the orthopaedic care of the 2009 World Champion Los Angeles Lakers. In addition, he served as an assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Sparks, Anaheim Ducks, and Loyola Marymount University.  Working among innovators in the field of sports medicine, Dr. Kaplan has been trained in cutting-edge arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee, as well as in joint preserving and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder and elbow.

He has presented his research at numerous national meetings and is a fellow-member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.  Dr. Kaplan recently presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons National Meeting on new technology regarding rotator cuff tears.

Member News

Will Torres has a new job as Market Manager for CFO Jeff Atwater's Office.  He will develop and execute strategies to promote statewide Dept of Financial Services initiatives in Northeast Florida and present and participate in events/panels on behalf of the State of Florida’s Chief Financial Officer.  Congratulations Will.

The Board has accepted with regret the resignation of Jeremy Miller.


Minutarian Update,  Week 38
Rotarians of 6970, 

Please join me in congratulating Jack Murray and his entire team that devote countless hours to our Youth Exchange Program. Once again, our District has been recognized with the Gold Level of Achievement Award. Don Peters, current President of the North American Youth Exchange Network summed it up in his letter to us with the following: “Districts with programs such as yours exemplify why Rotary Youth Exchange is the premier program in fostering the ideal stated in the Fourth Object of Rotary, The achievement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace---. ” Again, our thanks and kudos to Jack and all those associated with Rotary Youth Exchange.

Club Presidents and Awards Chairs, keep those applications coming in! Remember, there are zone awards for both Interact and Rotaract Clubs too, but they need to apply and they need your support. Please help those clubs you sponsor, get er done!

District Assembly coming up, March 29th. Everyone is invited, there is something to gain for all Rotarians in this day of information and fellowship.
