South Jax Rotary Club History...
It was September 13, 1954 that the matter of a second Rotary Club in Jacksonville came up in discussion. There was not universal agreement on the matter but there was universal agreement that any action should be deferred for at least another month. Four weeks later the Rotary Club of Jacksonville went behind closed doors to debate the need for a second Rotary club in the city. The debate was said to be spirited.
A proposal was on the table to "cede that portion of the city and tributary territory lying south of the St. Johns River to a Rotary Club of South Jacksonville. However, the club reserved the right to admit members from that territory whose business, executive duties or professional activities are wide in scope, and without affecting the status of any present member of the club."
Thus the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville was formed on a vote of 126 to 62 which reached the requisite two-thirds vote needed to change the club charter.

Our District Governor's Message:
We are less than 30 days away from conducting our annual Interact Leadership Summit on October 10th. The summit provides an opportunity for Interact club leadership and Rotary club sponsors to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects and learn valuable leadership skills. Registration information available on our district website or by contacting District Interact Chair Jeri Williar at jeri311@bellsouth.net. Cost is $10.00 per person.
Have you conducted business, studied or traveled abroad at some point during your lifetime? The experiences and knowledge we gain from traveling abroad can be invaluable and have a lasting impact on the rest of our life. We need your help in providing similar opportunities for high school students throughout our Rotary world. The Youth Exchange Committee is in desperate need of host families and club sponsorships for inbound youth exchange students during the 2016-2017 school year. The number of inbound students that we agree to host determines the number of students from our district that we send abroad. Please consider hosting or sponsoring a youth exchange student. Deadline to make your intentions known is September 19th.
If you have any questions regarding what is involved with hosting an exchange student, completing the forms or arranging a RYE presentation for your club, please contact District RYE Chair Jeff Hart at jeff@ryeflorida.org.
