Minutarian Update, Week 44

Rotarians of 6970,

Our Gainesville Sunrise Club, has been creating a butterfly garden at the Ronald McDonald House, since 2008. It is now complete. What a great example of what Rotary Clubs can do, and the impact they have in their community. With the assistance of a small district grant, funds from the club, other local contributors, in kind work and donated materials, the project is now complete. It is a beautiful park where family members can take a break from hospital visits and treatments, impacting their ill child. Visit our district website, and see the great six foot Rotary Wheel brickwork, embedded on the parks paver pathway.

Two reminders, sign up for District Conference. Don't wait, don't be left out. Secondly, last call for District Grant applications, due April 30th.

I can happily report the results are in, 13 of our Interact Clubs, and 6 of our Rotaract Clubs have received Zone Award recognition. Of the 14 total Districts in our Zone, our Interact Clubs made up 25% of all those recognized. 6970 Rotaract Clubs were outstanding as well comprising 18% of the total. Congrats to those clubs, their advisors and club sponsors.

Keep doing those wonderful things you do! Have a great week!

Minutarian Update, Week 43

A quick refresher this week on the First Object of Rotary;
The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

To me it's a reminder, that we are not necessarily a service organization. We are in fact an organization of members that believe in and perform service. We use our Rotary Clubs, as the vehicle for that service. You, the members, the customers of Rotary, are our most valuable commodity. Thank you for being a Rotarian.

District conference is growing near. Remember, if you can only make lunch, sign up just for lunch. Dinner only, sign up just for dinner. How about just a breakout or two, that also works. We start at 10:00am on Friday, May 16th at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. Registrations are coming in early this year. We will sell out, so don't be left out.
Remember, clubs considering submission of a District Grant Application, must do so by April 30th. Don't miss the date, don't be late.

Keep doing those wonderful things you do!

Have a great week!
